Cynthia Hardenbrook

Cynthia comes from a long technology background, having spent much of her career at Sun Microsystems. While there, she held many roles from Systems Engineer, Certified Six Sigma Blackbelt, to Software Engineering Director within ISV Engineering. She was part of the team that developed Sun’s initial foray into cloud computing, The last few years she has worked in technical consulting roles, focusing on program/project management and becoming an Agile enthusiast. 

Where’s your hometown? – Columbus, Ohio

What’s your spirit animal? – Cat

How many years have you worked in your field? – 28+ ….yes, I started work when I was 10 😉

How do you spend your free time? – DIY projects, Woodworking, Cooking, Bicycling, playing handbells, Sewing (Home decoration, I don’t make clothes anymore…)

What is your guilty pleasure TV show? – HGTV’s Flip or Flop, Fixer-Upper type shows *and* Star Trek Next Generation (or other spin-offs).

Where do you go to relax and recharge? – My Colorado mountain house…

What made you want to work at Gorilla Logic? – Stu! And, the fact that GL has super smart technologists. Oh, and the client situation was perfect for the blend of GL tech team capabilities and my value add.

What is your personal motto? – Steer the way clear for brilliant minds to do great work.

What was one of the most rewarding leadership positions you have had? – When I was in the midst of my Six Sigma Black Belt training and certification, I put on a training event for all the US Systems Engineers…. I learned that I may not know how to do something when I start out, but I figure it out and get it done.

Now that you have greater insight on the world (maybe;)), what would you go back and tell your 18 year old self? – Confidence – ‘Fake it ‘till you become it’

Sophia Parnell

Sophia was born and raised in Denver, attending Denver School of the Arts (DSA), ranked by the U.S. News & World Report as one of the best high schools in Colorado. While at DSA, she was a member of the speech and debate team, vocal jazz ensemble and various all school musicals. This fall, she will begin the second year of her undergraduate career at Santa Clara University (SCU), where she is currently pursuing a double major in Marketing and Music. At SCU, she is involved in two choirs, as well as Igwebuike, the black student union.
