Fabian Vargas Salas – QA Engineer
Fabian Vargas is a QA engineer at Gorilla Logic. He has been working as a QA engineer for 15 years doing manual/mobile testing. He is passionate about soccer—both practicing and following it—and his favorite team is Club Sport Herediano.
Favorite place you’ve traveled to? – I think it is Corcovado National Park for hiking and Caño island for scuba diving. They are located in the southern part of Costa Rica. Please let me know if you are interested in going because I can give you many tips and surely I will want to go too 🙂
How many years have you worked in your field? – I have been working as a QA for 15 years now. I have known a lot of amazing people during this time. Regards to David Pérez, Sol, Fr4gus, Donald, Kenneth! XD
How do you spend your free time? – I’m passionate about soccer—both practicing and following it. I enjoy watching movies and playing video games. I try to go hiking when possible and scuba diving as well. I like to socialize a lot so feel free to talk to me anytime! Things I like to do but I don’t practice quite often are: playing poker, ping pong, chess, surfing (I am just starting to learn), and BBQs.
What is your guilty pleasure TV show? – Friends, How I Met Your Mother, and Game Of Thrones.
Where do you go to relax and recharge? – If I have time then I would definitely go hiking and discover new places, preferably with a lot of nature. If it is something fast-paced, then I spend all my energy playing in a soccer match, take a shower after, and rest in bed!
What’s one of your most embarrassing memories? – Kids, did I ever tell you the story of when your uncle Barney and I went to… just kidding 😛 I went to the stadium as a supporter of the visiting team in the National Tournament Finals. So when I got to my seat, a reporter of national TV interviewed me asking me my thoughts on the outcome of the game. I was pretty confident my team was going to win, so I predicted 0-2, my team obviously winning. But in the end, the final score was totally the opposite thing. So I received a lot of messages, firstly picking on me for being on TV, and secondly because I predicted totally the opposite outcome.
What motivated you to pursue working in your current field? – It is kind of funny, I always loved playing video games on my computer, so guess what? I told myself that I should be studying something related to computers, and voilà, computer science (software engineering) was chosen to decide my future in life. Luckily it was a career that I was passionate about and it had a promising future.
