Emilio Duarte – Senior Automation Engineer

Emilio was born in San Carlos, a small city in northern Costa Rica. He has been in the field for over six years as a QA engineer, mainly focused on automation testing. Emilio loves playing soccer, meeting new people, hanging out with friends, and spending quality time with his wife and two dogs. He and his wife are excited to soon welcome a baby girl to their family. He also loves learning new things and enjoys having conversations where he learns something new. His values are honesty, responsibility, and punctuality. 

 

Emilio DuarteWhere’s your hometown? – I am from Ciudad Quesada, San Carlos.

How many years have you worked in your field? – I have been working in technology for almost eight years.

Best advice you have received personally or professionally? – You can always be the best version of yourself.

How do you spend your free time? – I spend my free time with my wife, family, and my two dogs. 

What is your guilty pleasure TV show? – My favorite TV shows are Sons of Anarchy, Game of Thrones, and Vikings.

Where do you go to relax and recharge? – Actually, the best place to relax is my home on weekends.

What made you want to work at Gorilla Logic? – High skilled professionals and a good place to work.

Something that your LinkedIn profile couldn’t tell us? – I am really patient when listening to people.

Who are the biggest cheerleaders in your life? – My wife and my mom.

Best advice when heading into an interview? – Be prepared and review the requirements for the job position you have applied for. If you do not know the answer, be honest, the worst thing you can do is lie.

Best advice when meeting with a client? – Be respectful, listen to what they have to say, and have a lot of empathy so you can understand their needs.

Favorite tech blog/website/publication? – Medium because they have really good posts about modern tech.

What qualities make someone successful in the tech world? – Being passionate, the drive to learn new things, and being prepared for quick changes.
