June 10th marked the Colorado Technology Association’s 6th annual Women in Technology (WIT) conference. The conference, presented by Comcast, was held at the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield in Littleton. Influential women from across the state gathered to discuss Colorado’s tech community, as well as network, educate and collaborate. Attendees listened to engaging talks from top industry professionals, and received tips around how to navigate the male dominated industry. Women were able to live tweet their experiences at the conference using the hashtag #wit2016.

For the day long event, conference heads chose specific women to lead small group discussions. Gorilla Logic’s own VP of Marketing, Rachel Beisel, was selected as one of these distinguished women. Stepping in to fill this role, known as a luminary, Rachel nurtured dialogue around personal and professional development. Beisel stated, “It was an honor to be chosen as a luminary for the Women in Technology conference.” She continued, “The future is bright for women in technology, especially for those located in Colorado.”

Thank you @electromute for recommending and Colorado Technology Association for selecting me as a Luminary. Inspiring day at the Women in Technology conference. #wit2016 #womenintech #womeninventors #STEM

Other luminaries included, Shawn Adamson (Vice President of Comcast), Deborah Floyd (Regional Vice President of Application Sales at Oracle), and Holli Riebel (COO of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce).

The Conference thrives during a time where women are beginning to successfully penetrate the tech bubble. According to the Colorado Technology Association’s website, “women occupy nearly 24% of the IT workforce in Colorado today.” An encouraging sign of this growth comes with the recent appointment of a female CEO, Andrea J. Young, to the Colorado Technology Association. Young’s first week as CEO aligned with WIT in a fitting way.
