Drummer | Professor | Agile Practice Lead
For Oscar Alfaro, being an Agile Practice Lead ties into his passion for teaching and coaching. He works closely with scrum masters and team owners to provide purpose-built Agile teams to meet our customers’ unique requirements. Oscar also develops online testing and screening tools to evaluate potential Gorillas’ Agile expertise. Finally, he collaborates with his fellow Agile Practice Leads to certify Gorilla Logic’s program owners in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®).
“My passion is to teach and coach people,” says Oscar. “I teach part-time at the university here in Costa Rica, so I enjoy coaching people based on different experiences that I have had.”
Oscar joined Gorilla Logic after being contacted by his colleague, Kenneth Cascante. The timing was perfect as Oscar was ready for a change.
“It took me a minute to decide to join Gorilla Logic,” Oscar recalls, “It was my easiest and best choice. I’ve accomplished more at Gorilla Logic in two years than what I accomplished during the previous eight years that I worked with two other companies.
“When you work at Gorilla Logic, you see what quality really is,” Oscar continues. “Everyone is performing at their best. You have to be at the top of your game every single day.”
When he’s not working, Oscar likes to play the drums (thirty minutes per day is about as much time as his wife can stand!). He also loves spending time with his wife and five-year-old daughter, with whom he shares a love of watching cartoons. Oscar also enjoys listening to the entire spectrum of heavy metal music including Metallica, Slayer, Slipknot and Iron Maiden. However, he also listens to the iconic Swedish pop group, ABBA, calling them his “guilty pleasure.”
