Jose Mario Chaves Rivera — Java Backend Software Engineer
Jose is one of our amazing Java Backend Software Engineers here at Gorilla Logic. He has been working as a Backend Developer for just over 6 years now. When David is off the clock his favorite hobby is dance, he likes going to the mountains, and really enjoys music. We are so happy to have him as a part of our Band!
Where’s your hometown? I am from Poas, Alajuela in Costa Rica.
Favorite place you’ve traveled to? I really enjoyed Cancun, Mexico.
How many years have you worked in your field? I have been working in development for about 7 years.
Best advice you have received personally or professionally? Do things right the first time, so you don’t have to do it twice.
If you could perform on stage with one famous musician/group, who would it be and why? Queen, Freddie Mercury was the best singer ever.
How do you spend your free time? I love to dance!
If you could travel back in time to any period in history, when would it be? La Habana, Cuba, before the government was formed.
What is your guilty pleasure TV show? Breaking Bad
Where do you go to relax and recharge? I go to the mountains and listen to music.
What made you want to work at Gorilla Logic? I heard so much about Gorilla Logic from their employees, they were always raving how Gorilla Logic is a fantastic place to work.

Best advice when heading into an interview? It’s very simple, just be yourself.
Best advice when meeting with a client? Relax and take a deep breath, they want to help.
Now that you have greater insight on the world (maybe;)), what would you go back and tell your 18-year-old self? Improve yourself every day, give it your everything and learn English.
What motivated you to pursue working in your current field? There are a lot of job opportunities, good benefits, work-life balance, and I really love working in my field.
What qualities make someone successful in the tech world? Humbleness
